BILLINGS — It is a weekend fall weather pattern that includes warm-ups, cool downs, a little rain, and still some of that smoke.

A light east wind and more smoke cover will keep temperatures mild Friday, but still warmer than recent days. Highs will hit the mid-70s to mid 80s both Friday and Saturday.

Smoke and haze will continue off and on through the weekend and into next week.

A cold front will pass over the region Saturday bringing light rain showers and wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph. Fire risk will increase with the warming temperatures, wind and low humidity.

A Fire Weather Watch is into effect for Saturday afternoon and evening for portions of Sheridan County, Wyoming and the Big Horn National Forest.

Temperatures will back off mainly to the low 70s Sunday with drier conditions. Next week, most highs will be a little warmer than average in the upper 70s to low 80s with dry conditions.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Sunny with areas of smoke. A high of about 82 with a light and variable breeze.

Friday night… Widespread haze with increasing clouds. A low around 59.

Saturday… Increasing clouds with a chance of showers or an isolated thunderstorm afternoon. Winds will increase as a cold front moves through the area. A high near 79.
