Wyoming businesses and nonprofits will soon be seeing more financial relief from the pandemic.
Starting Tuesday, Aug. 4, $225 million of the federal coronavirus relief dollars from the CARES Act will be available in the Cowboy State, Gov. Mark Gordon said in a Thursday news release.
In its Relief Fund, The state has set aside $50 million for businesses and nonprofits required to close by public-health orders and an additional $125 million for COVID-19 related expenses and other losses related to public-health orders, according to Gordon. Businesses that employ up to 100 workers are available for grants of up to $300,000.
Nonprofits are eligible if they have at least one full-time paid employee and spend less than half their time lobbying.
In addition, Wyoming has a Mitigation Fund, which reimburses businesses and nonprofits for employees and customers health and safety expenses from COVID-19. The fund has $50 million available, and grants are limited for up to $500,000.

The website will have help tools to allow people to submit a solid application as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Gordon said in the news release that this funding is a much-needed lifeline to businesses that have been hurt by COVID-19.
