BUSBY — Kean Ontiveros of Lame Deer was identified Tuesday as the 17-year-old boy who died in a single-vehicle crash involving a horse on Highway 212 west of Busby over the weekend, according to Big Horn County Coroner Daryl Nordquist.

The cause of Ontiveros's death was blunt force trauma from the impact of the crash, Nordquist told Q2 over the phone.

Ontiveros was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu and struck a horse that had wandered onto Highway 212 around 9 p.m. Saturday, according to Montana Highway Patrol.

Ontiveros was not wearing a seat belt and speed is considered a factor in the crash, according to Montana Highway Patrol.
