BILLINGS-The hail storm that happened on Sunday has kept insurance companies and repair shops busy this week.
Trackside Auto Body Repair in Billings has seen a lot of customers come in with hail damage.
That has led insurance companies to classify this as a catastrophe, according the Kevin Vanlaarhoven, owner of Trackside.
The insurance companies have brought in more people to help body shops deal with the claims.
Vanlaarhoven’s advice is to find a shop that guarantees its work and uses the right techniques to keep the paint from cracking.
"All it takes when they go to push these dents out, if that paint cracks at all, in a year or maybe even less, moisture will get in those cracks and then all of the sudden you have rust and corrosion coming in there,” he said. “And your paint is going to start to pop off."
Vanlaarhoven said many reputable repair shops are in Billings.
He expects damage from this storm to keep those shops busy for the next year.
