INSTEAD OF OVERSEEING ONE BIG SHOW FROM THOMPSON PARK THIS YEAR, The Laurel Fire Department asks residents to enjoy the show and their neighbor's fireworks from their own homes. — There will be Fireworks in Laurel this 4th of July! But this year there is a bit of a catch.

Of course, due to the pandemic, many of the typical celebrations in Laurel have been canceled for the holiday, but the local fire department is stepping up to save the fireworks display.

Instead of overseeing one big show from Thompson Park this year, the volunteer firemen will be lighting off fireworks from an undisclosed location but residents of Laurel will be able to enjoy the show from their homes.

Starting at 10:30pm, you are invited to step out of your house and look up. You can even join in on the festivities with your own fireworks, just remember to be safe.

Regular festivity's will hopefully resume next year.
