Montana state health officials reported five additional deaths and 323 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The state death toll now stands at 170. One of the deaths was reported in Yellowstone County. Here's the full press release from RiverStone Health:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports that another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.

On Thursday, September 24, a woman in her 70s, who resided at a Yellowstone County senior living facility, passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.

To protect the privacy of the deceased and her family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.

This most recent death is reflected on the Friday, September 25 state COVID-19 tracking map.

“I wish the deceased’s family and friends peace and comfort during this difficult time,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.

“The tragedy of COVID-19 deaths continues to be felt by far too many families in Yellowstone County, Montana, the United States and across the globe. As the weather changes, we will be spending more time indoors and it is important that we unfailingly practice the 3Ws – wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands. As flu season approaches, it is also important to get an annual flu shot because COVID-19 and the flu share many of the same symptoms,” said Felton.

To date, 3,046 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 63 have died.

Three deaths are being reported in Roosevelt County and another in Wheatland County.

The Friday total of new cases is the second highest single day number and follows one day after the state recorded the latest single-day record of new cases with 333.

Missoula County reported the highest number of new cases with 78, followed by Yellowstone County with 56. Gallatin County reported 31 additional cases, and Glacier County added 23. Flathead County reported 22 new cases and Roosevelt County added 18 cases.

The remaining new cases were spread across 23 Montana counties.
