BILLINGS — When the nice weather falls apart...

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Billings Tuesday p.m. through Thursday a.m..

A powerful winter storm system will move through the region late Tuesday through Wednesday night.

Along with cold temperatures, significant snow accumulations are expected in the mountains and across the plains.

Although specifics about snow totals at this time are uncertain, it appears the Billings area could see between at least four to eight inches of snow Wednesday.

Daytime highs will climb to around 70 Tuesday, and then no warmer than the upper 20s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tonight: Mostly clear, southwest winds 10 to 20 mph and a low of 38.

Monday: Sunny & warmer with west southwest winds 10 to 20 mph and a high of 68.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy and warmer with a low of 47.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and a high of 70.
