Q2 Weather: Winds highlight the day, showers by tonight

BILLINGS — Wind highlights Tuesday’s weather, with showers moving in late in the day.

Strong winds will continue from Billings to the west today, with gusts already recorded at over 60 mph in the Beartooth foothills during the overnight hours. Gusts around Billings could reach 40 mph.

Clouds will increase across the region throughout the day. Showers will push through areas especially from Billings to the east during the evening and overnight hours. Rain and snow and even pockets of freezing rain are possible.

High temperatures today will be mainly in the 40s, with 30s in northeastern Montana. Overnight temperatures slip to the 20s and 30s and winds decrease as the showers and the weather disturbance moves through.

For Wednesday, temperatures return to the 30s and 40s but an overall quieter weather picture. A warm-up continues with highs in the mid-50s possible by Friday.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Increasing clouds with a high near 48. Southwest wind 15 to 30 with gusts to 40 mph.

Tuesday night… A chance of evening rain and rain showers with a rain/snow mix possible overnight. Cloudy to start with some clearing by morning. Low near 34.

Wednesday… Partly cloudy to mostly sunny and a high of about 46.
