BILLINGS — While attention is focusing on a change to colder and wetter weather by the weekend, there is some wind we need to talk about for Tuesday.
Winds will be gusty by late morning and early afternoon Tuesday. Gusts to near 50 mph are expected in the mountain foothills, with 30 to 40 mph wind gusts across the plains.
Afternoon high temperatures Tuesday will be slightly above normal in the mid to lower 70s. There is a slight chance for some rain in the mountains and adjacent foothills.
Wednesday will be slightly cooler, with highs mainly in the 60s to about 70, and with less wind.
A change to cooler and wetter weather is expected later in the week and through the weekend. Periods of rain will begin Thursday with mountain snow, with rain possibly switching to snow for the lower elevations during the weekend.
A lot of uncertainty remains in the forecast, but the potential for fairly heavy precipitation, wet snowfall, and frost and freeze conditions are all possibilities late in the weekend and early next week.
Keep checking for updates as the pattern becomes clearer!
