BILLINGS — A bit more rain and snow on the way, with the coldest temperatures still to come.

For Monday, a few showers and thunderstorms will ease up for southeastern Montana, with the chance of some rain showers and higher elevation snow. Expect a chilly afternoon with a mix of clouds and sun, and highs mainly in the 40s in the lower elevations.

Tuesday, another slew of moisture moves up from the south. As the warm, moist air is lifted over the chilly air at the surface, rain and snow will develop. Some in the plains, including around Billings, could see some light snow accumulation.

Overnight temperatures will drop to the 20s and 30s the next few days, causing areas of frost and freeze. Daytime highs stay in the 40s Monday and Tuesday, but will start to hit the 50s by Wednesday. Some low 60s are possible Thursday.

Cover sensitive plants the next couple of mornings, and dress appropriately for the weather. Be aware that areas of frost and fog could delay travel.

Billings forecast:

Monday… A mix of clouds and sun and a high near 47.

Monday night… Mostly cloudy with isolated evening showers. A low near 31.

Tuesday… Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of morning snow showers or a rain snow mix later in the day. About 42 for the high.
