BILLINGS — This weekend, our weather changes from summer to fall.
Our pattern is changing to cooler and wetter weather heading into the weekend and early next week. High temperatures will shift to the 70s to 80s Friday, and 60s and 70s from Saturday onward.
An upper trough will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area throughout the afternoon and evening moving from west to east. Stronger storms are possible with gusty winds and localized heavy rain Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon looks relatively quiet, with a few scattered to isolated showers or a stray thunderstorm. But in general, highs will be in the upper 60s to upper 70s with a mix of clouds and sun.
A series of weather systems will bring periods of rain Sunday onward, with the potential of areas of heavy rain Sunday. The higher peaks may see some snow.
Billings forecast:
Friday… Increasing clouds through the morning was showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. A high near 82.
Friday night… Showers and thunderstorms during the evening. Low near 58.
Saturday… A mix of clouds and sunshine, but don’t rule out a shower or thunderstorm. About 75 for the high.
