BILLINGS — Smoky and mild Wednesday.

A backdoor cold front brought some relief to smoke concentrations in northeast Montana late Tuesday and early Wednesday. But thicker smoke still remains across much of south central Montana and northern Wyoming.

Mostly sunny skies will prevail for the next several days along with a gradual warming trend toward the weekend.

Afternoon highs today will stay above average – into the 70s and lower 80s.

The next best chance for showers arrives this weekend, along with cooler temps.

The forecast for Billings

Today: Sunny, haze, northeast winds 5 to 15 mph and a high of 77.

Tonight: Clear skies with areas of smoke, light north winds and a low of 50.

Thursday: Sunny, hazy and warmer with light and variable winds and a high of 82.
