BILLINGS — Rain, snow, and thunderstorms are moving into the area Tuesday afternoon.

As a trough moves into the area from west to east, heavy rain is expected through at least early Thursday. One to 2 inches of accumulation are possible, especially in areas from Billings to the east.

Severe storms will occur from Billings to the south Tuesday afternoon and evening with the potential of hail and gusty winds accompanied by frequent lightning.

Snow is very likely in the Beartooth and Absaroka mountains Tuesday night through Wednesday. Six to 12 inches of snow are possible on the Beartooth Highway.

High temperatures Tuesday will be in the 60s to low 70s ahead of the weather system, and mainly in the 50s to about 60 by Wednesday afternoon.

We are still on track for a warmer and drier weather pattern this weekend.
