Q2 Weather: Look for mountain snow, thunderstorms below in Montana

BILLINGS — Thursday is Transition Day.

After mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures Thursday afternoon, another weather system heads our way for early Friday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the higher elevations of southwest Montana and northwest Wyoming Friday morning through noon Saturday.

The Beartooth Absarokas could see 5 to 7 inches of snow above 7,500 feet Friday afternoon into early Saturday morning.

Snow will likely impact the Beartooth Pass during this time frame.

Rain showers and possibly a few strong thunderstorms are expected across eastern Montana and northeast Wyoming Friday through Saturday morning.

The cool and wet weather system will move out Saturday evening as warmer and sunny weather returns by Sunday.

The forecast for Billings:

Tonight: Increasing clouds, a 40% chance of overnight showers and isolated thunderstorms, northwest winds 5 to 15 mph and a low of 50.

Friday: Cooler with an 80% chance of rain showers and isolated thunderstorms and a high of 63.

Friday night: An 80% chance of rain showers and a low of 48.

Saturday: Cool with a 60% chance of showers decreasing in the afternoon and a high of 65.
