BILLINGS — Cooler but dry Mother’s Day.

That cool northwest flow combined with an eastward moving low pressure system over North Dakota to create some wind and early morning rain and snow in the area.

Luther picked up 1.4 inches of water from heavy rainfall early Saturday.

Heavy snow dumped 6 inches of snow west of Red Lodge, and around an inch near Burgess Junction and Story, Wyoming.

Afternoon highs were cooler than average Saturday and will remain cool – into the mid 50s Sunday, and upper 40s Monday - with another chance for precipitation by Monday morning.

The forecast for Billings

Tonight: Partly cloudy, northeast winds 5 to 15 mph and a low of 37.

Mother’s Day Sunday: Mostly cloudy and cooler, northeast winds 5 to 15 mph and a high of 54.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, a 20% chance of showers and a low of 36.

Monday: Mostly cloudy and cooler, a 50% chance of showers, east winds 10 to 20 mph and a high of 49.
