Q2 Weather: Here is a glimpse at the winter ahead in Billings area and Friday too

BILLINGS — The weekend brings cooler, wetter and windier conditions.

WINTER OUTLOOK AND FORECAST THURSDAY OCT 17, 2019

Showers will increase over the higher elevations as a cold front moves across the region Thursday evening. Expect some mountain snow with rain showers scattered in the lower elevations.

Overnight lows drop mainly to the 30s and lower 40s with showers ending and a clearing sky overnight.

High temperatures Friday will be around seasonal averages, hitting mainly the 50s. Winds will increase with gusts of 30 to 45 mph by the afternoon.

An unsettled pattern continues through the weekend with temperatures dropping gradually through Sunday and scattered rain showers. By Sunday and Monday mornings, some areas of the lower elevations will see a wintry mix of rain and snow.

Billings forecast:

Thursday night… A chance of evening showers, then becoming partly cloudy overnight. A low near 43.

Friday… Sunny to partly sunny with a high near 59. West wind increases 15 to 30 miles an hour in the afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday… Highs are in the upper 50s Saturday but drop 8 to 10 degres Sunday. Scattered showers will increase Saturday night with a chance of a rain/snow mix early Sunday.
