BILLINGS — We may have potential record heat on Monday.

After our nice break of daytime highs in the 80s Sunday, the heat is back on Monday.

Near record highs – into the upper 90s – are expected for places like Miles City, Sheridan, Wyoming, Livingston and Billings.

Expect some more haze and smoke in the area early next week.

The heat will give way to another advancing cold front Tuesday. Our next best chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms is Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The forecast for Billings

Tonight: Mostly clear with areas of smoke, light northeast winds and a low of 62.

Monday: Sunny and hot with areas of smoke, light southwest winds and a near-record high of 98.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, a 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms, areas of smoke, light southwest winds and a low of 65.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, not as hot, a 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms, light and variable winds and a high of 92.
