BILLINGS — Critical fire weather today!

Sunny, hot and dry weather continues Wednesday with the elevated risk of wildfire across most of Montana and northern Wyoming.

Red Flag Fire Warnings are posted for much of the region – including Yellowstone County – from 11 a.m. today through midnight tonight.

Afternoon highs will climb into the 90s to around 100 across the area with relative humidity levels falling to between 9 and 16 percent.

Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely to produce erratic winds in the region this evening as well.

Cooler weather is forecast for Thursday.

Today: Mostly sunny and hot with light southwest winds, a 20% chance of isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms and high of 95.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, light northwest winds, a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms and a low of 59.

Thursday: Increasing clouds and cooler with a 20% chance of isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, light northeast winds and a high of 84.
