Q2 Weather: Cooler and trending wetter for now

BILLINGS — A cooler and wetter weather system brings an increasing chance of rain and mountain snow Friday and Saturday.

Areas from Billings westward will be a bit breezy Thursday with gusts up to 50 mph near Livingston. A few showers and thunderstorms could develop but with a much lower risk of strong storms.

Showers and general thunderstorms increase Friday afternoon and evening with widespread rain showers Saturday. Higher elevation snow continues.

Temperatures reach the 60s west of Billings Thursday and 70s to the east. By Saturday highs have cooled to the 50s with clouds and showers, but a warming pattern follows.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Mostly sunny and about 69. West wind 10 to 20 mph with occasional stronger gusts.

Thursday night… Partly cloudy with a low around 46. West wind decreasing.

Friday… Increasing clouds with afternoon showers possible, increasing during the late afternoon and evening. High near 68.
