BILLINGS — We will find ourselves looking for thunderstorms a little more frequently.

Overall, Thursday is fairly quiet with sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. Highs will be mainly in the upper 70s to mid 80s with a light wind. Most of the area is dry with temperatures a little warmer than Wednesday.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening near the Bighorn Mountains with some strong severe storms possible in extreme southeast Montana.

Starting Friday, the weather pattern will become a little more active with more frequent afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe with wind and hail, and brief downpours are possible.

High temperatures will stay mainly in the 80s with a few low 90s through the extended period with overnight temperatures in the 50s to mid 60s.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Sunny with a high near 84. A light westerly wind.

Thursday night… Mostly clear with a low of about 55.
