BILLINGS — Much warmer than average temperatures continue through Saturday. The cooldown comes abruptly on Sunday.

High temperatures Tuesday will be mainly in the upper 70s to mid 80s. The record high for Billings is 86 at the airport, and Sheridan, Wyoming would need to hit 84 to tie the October 6th daily record.

Expect a sunny sky with only a little smoky haze, and breezy conditions especially west of Billings. Combined with low humidity, the heat and wind will create wildfire conditions for Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Wednesday will be a bit cooler, back to the 70s for the highs. Thursday could be another high fire risk day, is temperatures again start reaching the 80s.

Warmer than average readings continue through Saturday before a trough of low pressure digs into the region. This will lower afternoon high temperatures to the 50s and 60s next week, with scattered rain showers and higher elevation snow.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Sunny with a little haze, and a high near 85. West wind 10 to 20 mph.

Tuesday night… Clear to mostly clear with a low of about 46.

Wednesday… Sunny about 10° cooler than Tuesday with a high around 75.
