The weekend will see a transition from warming dry, to snow, to the coldest temperatures so far this season.
Mild Friday and Saturday, with highs well into the 40s to low 50s. Winds will be gusty around Livingston/Nye and Harlowton Friday, with breezy conditions around Billings.
Expect plenty of sun with just a few clouds Friday, with increasing clouds on Saturday. A chance of rain showers develops by Saturday evening, with the best chance of precipitation Sunday.
Snow will be widespread Sunday, with higher accumulations from Billings to the west. Much of the area could see 2 to 6 inches of fresh snow with areas of 8 to 10 inches possible.
Cold air will follow, with high temperatures only in the single digits above and below zero early next week and overnight temperatures in the single digits and teens below zero. Expect off-and-on snow showers and flurries with the cold temperatures.
