SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- The Billings-Heights National All-Stars battled through four games in four days at the Little League Baseball Northwest Regional tournament, but their run drew to an end Wednesday afternoon in California.
Washington's Little League state champions batted around in the second inning en route to eliminating Montana's state champs, 9-2.
Washington exploded for a five-run second inning, which could have been worse if not for Montana getting out of a bases-loaded jam. Washington also left the bases loaded in the top of the third but added four more runs to put the elimination game out of reach.
Washington's offensive outburst was no surprise. Aside from losing 5-2 to Idaho, the all-stars hung 14 runs on Wyoming and 13 Alaska.
Heights National finished the regional 2-2 with wins over Alaska and Wyoming, plus an 8-7 loss to Oregon.
