BELGRADE- Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks needs the public’s help looking for someone officials say poached a pronghorn doe.
Game wardens say they found the doe Saturday night near Theisen Road, which is about 10 miles north of Belgrade.
Wardens add that the doe appeared to have been shot near the road and then ran under a fence post into a field where it died.
And this is not the first time.
Thankfully, wildlife officials say someone found the doe about a day after it was killed and were able to call the poaching hotline immediately to report it.
“When you think of all of the factors that complicate an investigation into a wildlife crime, you have weather, you have, you know, scavengers that come and change the scene, the carcass, things like that, so we are really glad that someone was able to report this quickly,” says Morgan Jacobsen, Information & Education Program Manager, Region 3, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks.
Those who might know anything about this case are asked to call into that same toll-free hotline, 1-800-TIP-MONT (847-6668).
