DNA test confirms Ted Bundy responsible for Utah teen’s death

Posted

Utah police say DNA testing helped confirm that serial killer Ted Bundy murdered a teenager in the town of Bountiful Back in the 1970s.

Police say 17-year-old Debra Kent disappeared in November of 1974. She left a play to pick up her brother from an ice skating rink and never returned.

Shortly before his execution in 1989, Bundy admitted he killed Kent and told police where to find her body.

But police never found her body, only a piece of bone was returned to the family.

In 2015, DNA test confirmed that the bone belonged to Kent. Police decided to announce the confirmation because of the popularity of a documentary series and movie about Bundy on Netflix.
