The House voted to approve a resolution to name impeachment managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate, the last step before President Trump's trial in the upper chamber can get underway.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the seven impeachment managers on Wednesday morning, and lawmakers debated the resolution formalizing their appointment in the afternoon. Lawmakers voted 228 to 193 to approve the measure, and the managers will deliver the articles to the Senate later Wednesday.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he expects the impeachment trial to get underway next week on January 21.
