Montana trooper injured after flipping vehicle in Yellowstone County pursuit

YELLOWSTONE COUNTY — An early Friday morning police chase ended with a Montana Highway Patrol trooper in the hospital.

According to the highway patrol, the trooper, who was not identified, went off the road on Mary Street and Five Mile Road around 2 a.m. Friday in Yellowstone County. He was assisting Yellowstone County deputies in a pursuit when, while negotiating a right-hand curve, he went down an embankment and flipped the vehicle. His seatbelt kept him inside the car, and he was able to call for help.

Interim Yellowstone County Sheriff Kent O’Donnell told MTN deputies were attempting a traffic stop for a violation that turned into a pursuit.

Th trooper was treated and released from the hospital.

Law enforcement did not catch the fleeing vehicle.
