BUTTE – A Butte man has finally been charged in connection an armed standoff in an Uptown office building 10 months ago.

Travis Ian Hunter, 29, was charged Friday with three felony counts of kidnapping, assault with a weapon and criminal endangerment.

Court documents allege Hunter entered the office Synesis 7 on North Alaska Street the afternoon of Dec. 27 and threatened an employee with a handgun. A brief standoff with police ensued, where the gunman fired several shots through a second-story window and jumped to the ground. The gunman was severely injured in the fall and transported to St. James Healthcare.

Police never returned fire and no others were injured.

Police report the suspect had not been charged while he recovered from his injuries to avoid the county having to cover his medical expenses.

Hunter remains jailed Monday on $125,000 bond.
