While other rodeos and large outdoor summer events across Montana have announced cancellations due to COVID-19, organizers of the Ingomar Open Rodeo said Monday their event is a go.

The 41st Annual Ingomar Open Rodeo is scheduled on Saturday, July 25. Organizers said the event would follow local county health directives for coronavirus.

Well folks, it is time to gather your ropes, your ridin’ skills, your 8-second ‘I can get it done’ attitude and mosey over to the 41st Annual Ingomar Open Rodeo, Saturday July 25th.

“Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Rosebud County, CFNRC, we already have our two new bucking chutes at the arena, ready for set up,” said Ingomar Rodeo Club president Howard Newman.

And while the arena takes shape, and the cook shack is getting spruced up, stock contractors are ready to go. Ticket takers are prepped, and the stock, well you know how they get. The bucking horses and bulls are primed to give cowpokes the ride of their lives, while the crowd gets to experience the show. “It is an impressive rodeo,” said Paul Lansaw, who comes all the way from California to attend. The town population is 12, and the Rodeo Club numbers 7, yet Ingomar holds two rodeos each year (the Ingomar Ranch Rodeo is held on Labor Day weekend).

There will be roping, barrels, and pole bending. And don’t forget the world famous (well almost) Buckaroo Bounce, where kids (of all ages) bounce their way across the arena in timed heats for that elusive $100 prize, and a ‘one-of-a-kind’ trophy. All this will be announced by the former world champion bareback rider, Deb Greenough, who entertains the crowd with various quips and rodeo stories throughout the event.

“While the rodeo is taking place, we will have burgers, hot dogs and cold drinks at the cook shack,” added Ingomar Rodeo Club Secretary Alice Cameron. “The beer booth will be also be open,” said Alice, “And there will be a raffle to benefit the Rodeo Club.”

Rodeo schedule basics: Slack (if needed) - 9:30AM, Morning Events after slack, or 10:00AM, Calcutta at 1:00PM, Rodeo at 2:00PM. And, following the rodeo at the Arena, there will be a comedy Show, “MONTANA’S FUNNIEST” – hosted by Logan Dennison.

Phone Entries to Alice Cameron at 406-358-2255.

Entries Open July 20, 8:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Cameron also noted, “We will be following County Public Health directives for Covid 19.”
