Florida girl killed in Montana semi truck accident

MISSOULA - A 6 -year-old-girl from Florida died in an accident early Sunday morning in Mineral County.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the girl was a passenger in a semi-truck that crashed near St. Regis just after midnight on Sunday.

MHP reports a 34-year-old woman from Hudson, Fla., was driving a 2017 Volvo semi-truck traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 when the the semi drifted off the left side of the road.

The semi struck two delineator posts before the it re-entered the road.

The semi then overturned and landed in the median, striking several trees.

The girl, also from Hudson, was was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

A 10-year-old boy in the semi, also from Hudson, was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.

A 1-year-old girl who was not restrained was injured and transported to the Mineral County Hospital.

MHP says speed, drugs, and alcohol were not factors in this crash. The roads were dry and clear at the time of the crash.

The Montana Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
