RED LODGE — The Beartooth Pass from Red Lodge to Vista Point was reopened Friday morning, days after a winter storm hit much of the region and days before the pass is set to close for the season.
The Montana Department of Transportation said the Montana side of the pass was reopened at 8:15 a.m.
The pass was closed Sept. 27 ahead of the winter storm that brought snow to higher elevations and across much of western and central Montana.
The Wyoming side of the pass has been closed since Sept. 25.
Montana officials said the pass is scheduled to be closed for the season within the next five to seven days, but weather could force an earlier closure.
