BUTTE – The court hearing for the man accused of holding a man hostage in a bus in Butte in January was delayed on Thursday after the court ordered a mental evaluation.

District Judge Kurt Krueger ordered Dane Gibson, 52, be sent to the Montana State Hospital for a mental evaluation before further action is taken on his case.

Gibson faces charges of aggravated kidnapping and assault with a weapon in connection with holding a man hostage at gunpoint in a bus at the Butte Transfer Station for several hours on Jan. 30.

The hostage was able to escape and police eventually forced Gibson out of the bus after a long standoff.
