THOMPSON FALLS – A months-long investigation has led to an arrest in a murder case last year in Northwest Montana.

Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel said Danielle Jeanette Wood is facing a deliberate homicide charge in connection with the May 2018 death if Matthew George Lafriniere.

Wood was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and is being held on $1 million bond in the Sanders County jail.

Rummel is also thanking the Montana Department of Justice for their help in the investigation.

Rummel had said in a social media post last August that “a lot of evidence has been collected and submitted to the Montana Crime Lab in Missoula and it takes time to process this evidence.”
