GREAT FALLS — The 12th Annual D.A. Davidson/Scheels/Wal-Mart CANtastic Event will be going on at the Holiday Village Shopping Mall, across from Maurice’s, Saturday, March 16, to Tuesday, March 19.CANtastic is a unique event where civic teams, aided by local architects, build structures out of food which are then judged and displayed. Food and proceeds benefit the Great Falls Community Food Bank and their Backpacks4kids program.
Teams for this year will include Great Falls High School Key Club, C.M. Russell High School Key Club, Great Falls Central Key Club, Loenbro, Pepsi of Great Falls, Downtown Chicks, Edward Jones & Giant Springs Chapter of Credit Unions.
Also included in this year’s CANtastic event is an art contest for sixth-graders from local elementary schools. The posters were sponsored by businesses and individuals to help raise additional money.
The Backpacks4Kids Program provides packs of ready-to-eat, kid-friendly, shelf-stable meals that hungry Great Falls children take home on weekends and holidays. It costs the Great Falls Community Food Bank approximately $150 to distribute these packs for a school year to one child.
