The Miss Montana crew is on the ground in Florida, ready to help begin airlifting supplies to the victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

Miss Montana left Missoula over the weekend, and made a quick and problem-free flight across the country.

The C-47, which already flew to France for the D-Day ceremonies earlier this summer, made fuel stops at several airports, including Kansas City.

That's where the crew topped off the tanks and grabbed some quick KC barbecue before continuing the flight, which fits right in with what the Museum of Mountain Flying hopes to do, continuing the plane's legacy of service.

“A guy from Missoula bought it in and used it for the next 30 years, taking supplies into the backcountry, pioneering some wildland firefighting techniques like smoke jumping and slurry bombing,” pilot Bryan Douglass said.

Miss Montana made it to Tallahassee late Sunday night and then flew across Florida Monday morning to stage for the relief flights to the Bahamas.
