BILLINGS — A Montana Highway Patrol trooper was released from the hospital Saturday after a semi truck trailer struck their patrol car while investigating a crash on Interstate 94 near Billings around noon Saturday, according to Sgt. Eric Gilbert with Montana Highway Patrol.
The injured trooper was investigating a prior crash in the westbound lanes of I-94 about three miles northeast of Billings.
Gilbert said the trooper was inside their patrol car when a semi truck lost control and jackknifed. The semi truck's trailer struck the left rear side of the patrol car, severely damaging it, Gilbert said.
Snowy road conditions were suspected factor in the crash, Gilbert said.
