BILLINGS — An early Saturday rush to the hospital resulted in a crash and several citations for a Billings man.

Around 9 a.m. Saturday a local man was rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital when he crashed into a police car while en route, according to Billings Police Sgt. Harley Cagle.

Sgt. Cagle said that the man was driving a dark-colored Dodge Caliber north on North 31st Street near the intersection of 7th Avenue North when he blew through a stop sign and broadsided a patrol car.

First responders on the scene had to use the jaws of life to extricate the driver. Both the driver, 30, and the woman, 29 were taken by AMR to the hospital, while the officer who was hit was taken by another officer to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to Sgt. Cagle, speed was such a factor that it threw the officer's car about 50 feet.

The driver was cited for careless driving, no insurance, expired tags and driving with a suspended license.

BPD is investigating the incident.
