BILLINGS — Even with the snow and cold weather, many families kept a Halloween tradition going at ZooMontana on Saturday.

The annual Boo at the Zoo drew families for some games and entertainment.

Little kids and big kids dressed up in their best costumes.

The weather led to about 1,000 coming out to an event that typically draws about 5,000.

Boo at the Zoo gives kids a chance to trick-or-treat in daylight with safer conditions.

"The families really enjoy it because it's a fun thing to do during the fall time," said Jeff Ewelt, ZooMontana executive director. "Kids love it because they get candy, they get the opportunity to interact with some animals out here as well. And again it's a safe trick or treating environment, and I know the parents with the really little kids like that and enjoy the opportunity for that reason."

Ewelt said because of the weather, the Sleepy Hollow Carriage Ride has been canceled and tickets will be refunded.
