A retired Billings priest had items stolen this weekend that hold sentimental value, and he's hoping to get them back.

Father Wayne Pittard retired from St. Pius X Catholic Church in 2018.

Someone recently stole his chalice and paten from out of his truck.

He started using them for the Holy Eucharist 37 years ago at his first church in Great Falls.

Pittard said his father made them for him by hand and gave them to him after his ordination.

St. Pius members have been helping him.

"I would love to have them back," Pittard said. "If I don't, I can live with that because they're things. And things are not what we're called to hold on to. It's the relationships and the memories and the love that my folks and everybody who's been helping me. We've got people checking pawn shops and eBay and Craigslist. That by itself has been so special."

Pittard asks that if you find his chalice and paten, to drop them off at St. Pius or any other church. A $300 reward has been offered by a St. Pius parishioner who wishes to remain anonymous for the safe return of these items.
