BILLINGS — Billings firefighters put out a structure fire that started at 6:40 a.m. Sunday and caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to a West End home at 3825 Towhee Lane.

No people were inside the residence at the time the fire started. The fire appeared to have started in the office of the home, according to a media release from Jamie Fender, Billings deputy fire marshal.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire caused heavy fire damage to the office and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. Both the property and its contents were insured, according to the release.

Firefighters did rescue a pet rabbit who was inside the home when the fire started. They posted a photo on social media Sunday afternoon, showing crews with engine 5 administering oxygen to the pet.
