BILLINGS - A Billings Fire Department engine crashed Friday morning while responding to an accident on Interstate 90.
The crash happened at about 8:06 a.m. on Highway 87 East when Engine 1 rolled over on its side off the highway just east of the Dick Johnston Bridge. The road conditions were "extremely slick due to snow and ice," Billings Fire Marshal Mike Spini said in a press release.
Three firefighters in the truck were taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Healthcare as a precautionary measure, Spini said. No major injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The fire crew was responding to a two-vehicle crash with one person trapped on Interstate 90 at mile post 452. That crash was among several reported in the same area Friday morning which partially blocked both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway.
