RED LODGE — The stretch of Highway 212 known as the Beartooth Pass remains closed on the Montana side at Vista Point Sunday due to winter weather, according to the Montana Department of Transportation road conditions map.

On Saturday, winter weather occurring between Vista Point, to the Montana/Wyoming state line and down the Wyoming side of the road prompted MDT to close the road around 1 p.m.

Motorists departing Red Lodge south on Highway 212 are forced to turn around at Vista Point.

Motorists traveling north on Highway 212 from Wyoming will be forced to turn around at the state line, according to the MDT road report.

The Beartooth Pass is scheduled to close for the winter on Oct 12, but could close earlier if the weather creates dangerous driving conditions.
