BILLINGS – The Montana Department of Transportation is nearing completion of a new 10-mile stretch of US Highway 212/310 between Rockvale and Laurel.
If the weather cooperates, MDT plans to have the road open by June 3.
Drivers traveling between Laurel and Rockvale have been experiencing standstill traffic lately while crews finish paving the road.
Vehicles are currently being rerouted on the new road and should expect about a 15-minute delay.
The new road runs parallel to the existing stretch but deviates west into the hills.
MDT said the road was changed due to “continuing growth in traffic and reoccurring crashes on the heavily used route.”
