BILLINGS- If your idea of a good time is sitting down with a good book, the chance to restock your shelves is coming up this week in Billings.
Central Christian Church in Billings is getting ready to hold what is being touted as the largest book sale in the Northwest.
The church, located just off Grand Avenue on 16th Street West, began the sale about 13 years ago as a way to raise money for its programs. Church members spend the entire year gathering books from individual donations and estates- more than 70,000 titles- and then sell them on the cheap.
The price is hard to beat: One dollar for hardcover books and 50 cents for paperbacks.
“We have books in every possible classification you can possibly find. By the way, don’t think about writing a book-it’s been done- and we have it here,” said church member Ron May. “It helps with our budget considerably. We also donate 10 percent of all proceeds to a local charity. This year we are going to support the building of a playground for handicapped children.”
The book sale is open from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. On Wednesday through Friday, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The sale wraps up Saturday with hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
