Update: The City of Billings Public Works Department expects to have the broken water main repaired by Wednesday afternoon.
Department officials said the line is 64 years old, so it’s hard to determine if the day’s cold weather played a part.
Due to its proximity to the rims, natural ground movement is another possible factor.

BILLINGS – A water main break created an icy, slushy mess on Rimrock Road between 15th Street West and 17th Street West on Wednesday morning slowing traffic.
City crews were on scene around 8 a.m. attempting to clear sewers to drain the flooded water.
It appears the water main break occurred on Granite Avenue, causing water to travel down Glacier Drive onto Rimrock Road.
The Billings Police Department issued an alert on Twitter asking drivers to use an alternate route and expect delays.

There is a watermain break North of Rimrock in the 1400 block with water flowing down and covering Rimrock. Standing water on Rimrock and ICE between 13th and 15th. Work crews on the way. Lt. Cady
