BILLINGS – The old Sports Authority building is coming down with no solid plans for the future of the space.

The sporting store occupied a building near the corner of North 24th Street West and Cook Avenue.

The Billings Building Division said the owners of outdoor mall, Central Avenue Plaza, is tearing down the building after they could not find someone to lease it once Sports Authority went out of business in 2016.

While there were no structural problems, the configuration of the building inside reportedly was making it difficult to find a tenant, so the decision was made to start over.

There are no current plans to rebuild on the space.
