As the Bridger Foothills fire blew up on Saturday, a significant amount of smoke has made its way into Billings and lingers on Sunday.

The BobCat fire is also contributing to the amount of smoke in the Billings area. the fire expanded rapidly on Saturday, forcing closures of Highway 87. The highway reopened this morning.

The Billings and Lockwood area have unhealthy air quality, according to the National Weather Service.

The city and county 911 center and Billings Fire Department are responding to an increasing number of smoke calls that are due to the smoke migrating from the Gallatin County and Musselshell County fires. Please call 911 if you see active flames.
