Bag of stolen firefighter gear dropped off anonymously at Billings fire station

BILLINGS- Life-saving gear reported stolen by Billings firefighter was anonymously dropped off early Wednesday morning, but not everything was returned.

Firefighters say roughly $4,000 of the $10,000 worth of equipment stolen last week from a firefighter’s pickup truck was returned.

Billings fire officials say a bag showed up at 7 a.m. right at shift time that had some of the stolen gear inside.

The bag was laying on the ground between Billings Fire station 6 and a church in the Heights.

The rope bag, with a harness, gloves and similar items were returned. A rope climbing helmet, firefighter structure fire helmet, and an infrared air mask were not returned.

Police are still investigating the theft.
