Montana state health officials reported five additional deaths and 530 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
The state death toll now stands at 217, according to state health officials.
Big Horn County health officials announced two additional COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday morning. Here's a portion of the press release:
Big Horn County today announced the deaths of two (2) County residents due to complications from the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). One (1) decedent is a man in his 60’s who died on Sunday, October 11, 2020 and one (1) is a woman in her 70’s who passed on Monday, October 12, 2020. Neither patient was hospitalized prior to their deaths.
With their passing, Big Horn County’s death toll from COVID-19 has reached 31 and the County’s fatality rate is 2.8% (31 out of 1,110 total).
The Big Horn County COVID-19 Response Unified Coalition wishes their family, friends, and the entire community of Big Horn County comfort and strength in this time of sorrow.
Additional deaths were also reported in Blaine, Rosebud and Valley counties.
The cumulative total number of COVID-19 cases in Montana has reached 19,611, and there have been 11,620 recoveries. There are currently 7,774 active cases of the virus in the state.
Yellowstone County reported the highest number of new cases Tuesday with 92. There are now 4,480 total cumulative cases in the county with 1,578 active cases.

Roosevelt County added 63 new cases, and Missoula County reported 56. Flathead County added 47, and Gallatin County reported 41 new cases.
The remaining new cases were reported across 27 Montana counties.

There are currently 294 people hospitalized for treatment of the virus. The total number of hospitalizations has reached 911.
The total number of tests performed has reached 409,651, an increase of 9,193 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.

Flathead County ahs the second highest number of active cases in Montana with 1,116. Missoula County has 662 active cases, and Cascade County reports 619 active cases of the virus.
