Montana state health officials reported three additional deaths and 321 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The state death toll now stands at 177. One of the additional deaths was previously reported in Yellowstone County by RiverStone Health officials, which reported two more deaths on Tuesday. Here's the full press release:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports that two more Yellowstone County residents have died due to COVID-19 related illness.

On Friday, September 11, a woman in her 80s passed away in a Yellowstone County senior living facility.

On Sunday, September 27, a man in his 70s, who resided in a Yellowstone County senior living facility, passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.

To protect the privacy of the deceased and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information.

Both of these deaths are reflected on the Tuesday, September 29 state COVID-19 tracking map.

“As two more Yellowstone County families grieve the loss of loved ones, I offer my heartfelt condolences,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.

“COVID-19 deaths across Yellowstone County for the month of September now stand at 21. On average, we have experienced a death every 1.3 days this month. In July, COVID-19 took the lives of 24 residents; 15 of those lives lost were associated with the outbreak at Canyon Creek Memory Care. We must do better to protect each other from more death and illness from this tragic disease,” said Felton.

To date, 3,256 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 67 have died.

The number of new cases reported Tuesday is the fourth highest single day total since reporting began in March. In the past week, the state has added 2,037 new cases.

Missoula County reported the highest number of new cases with 58, followed by Flathead County with 52 and Lewis and Clark County with 33. Cascade County added 28 new cases of the virus, and Glacier County added 26.

The remaining new cases were spread across 23 Montana counties.
